Hi all, and thanks again for all the kind emails and messages during the last two years of hell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We’ve all been through a lot, and that is an understatement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I’ve come out the other side of my personal nightmare, a little dinged up and a few pounds heavier (Ben & Jerry became my two best friends during the last year and a half), but I’m still here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After Al’s passing, I spent most of 2021 fixing up our old house. The crime in that neighborhood had skyrocketed, and I just didn’t feel safe there anymore. Plus, it was hard to take care of our giant backyard. The mowing alone would have been impossible for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Early in September I finally got moved into my new “fresh start” house, but unfortunately, it needed some work. I had a plumbing emergency first, then there were other things that were out of my control that had to be dealt with. When I finally came up for air around mid to late October, I started having issues with my own health, and around mid-November, found out I had my own cancer to deal with. Stage 1, fortunately, but with the mismanagement of the pandemic in our province (I’m looking at you, Jason Kenney, you toad), I was seriously worried about having the surgery I needed before things went from bad to worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fortunately, I had a complete hysterectomy at the end of January, and I used my six weeks off of work to write like the dickens! I wrote, I edited, I researched, I slept late, and I relaxed. It was glorious. I’ve now discovered that I’m cancer-free, and I could not be more grateful for that. I’m really planning to use the spring to #1, write even more! and #2, concentrate on my health (enjoying the fitness and nature trails near my new house), and trying to eat more healthfully after this long hellish winter of fast food and indulgence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I do apologize for being gone so long, but I hope you’ll understand. I’ve spiffed up the web page in the meantime, and I’m hoping to have another book or two out in the near future. No ideas when that might be, because there is still a lot of polishing required, but I’m hoping for maybe the end of the year or next spring (if World War III hasn’t broken out by then).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
